What defines success?

How do you define success? Is it being able to buy a huge house and a Mercedes? Is it finding true love and starting a family? Is it being comfortable with where you are in life? Or is it simply having the means to sustain yourself independently?

There is no real way to define success because everyone has a different idea of what it actually means. I think in order to be successful, you must first know exactly how it is that you define success, and create realistic goals and a (tentative) plan to help you get there. Being able to adapt to unpredictable obstacles and create a new path to your ultimate goal can be one of the toughest things to do. Sometimes the decisions you make backfire and you must do whatever it takes to get back on track. Especially in times like these, it is terrifying to think of taking risks to better your future. However, you can either put up or shut up.

To me, success is not having to worry about numbers. It means being able to pick up and go somewhere for a weekend without checking your bank account. It means worrying about real things, not little pieces of paper with presidents printed on them. It means being able to live life the way you want to, and doing the things that make you happy.

I personally have had a few setbacks on my path to success, but mark my words...it is going to happen. I have never been the kind of person to quit, and although at times I feel like it may be easier to just give up and continue on a single path, I know that later on in my life I would regret it, and I would not achieve my ultimate goals.

How do you define "success"?
